
Colgate and Expression for Growth
Colgate recognised that dental professionals need to act as leaders when educating and supporting patients to take an active role in their own health.
They wanted a session that helped those professionals explore their fundamental leadership skills using a unique approach. They also wanted to show those professionals how to overcome some of the challenges of behaviour change management from a leadership expert.
A facilitated 1-hour session entitled ‘Leading patients through change – a key role for dental professionals’.
Expression for Growth, Co-Founder, Alex Selwood has been a business facilitator since 1994 following a successful commercial career with Mars confectionary. Prior to this he was an explosive and mining engineer working on coal and gold projects in United Kingdom and South Africa.
His experience, combined with a pragmatic approach to the implementation of new skills and processes in the workplace, means that the training and coaching that he is involved in really makes a difference to both the individuals and their organisations.

Satisfying his clients people development needs is a key motivator and he is enormously stimulated by taking a group or individual through a learning experience, and then saying they behave differently to the benefit of themselves on their business. As experience, combined with a pragmatic approach to the implementation of new skills and processes in the workplace, means that their training and coaching that he is involved and really makes a difference to both the individuals and their organisations.
Taking people with you on a journey as one of the key roles that we have as leaders, no matter what environment that is. I don’t as dental professionals, you need to at leaders when educating and supporting your patients to take an active role in their own health.
During this session the participants learned:
- More about fundamental leadership skills needed to drive change
- Explored and modeled ways to help participants translate the skills in a daily practice
- How to become aware of how to overcome some of the challenges of behaviour change management
- Connected with other colleagues in their field and shared ideas and strategies for change
